What is Neuroplasticity? - International Brain Awareness Week

This week is the start of International Brain Awareness Week 2018! Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is the global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research, and the “brain-child” of The DANA Foundation. Neuroknowledge and the Perth Brain Centre are proud to be official partners of International Brain Awareness Week 2018, and every day we will be sharing some of the amazing benefits of brain research.

Today, the topic is Neuroplasticity. It was not long ago that scientists thought that the brain was fixed or “hard-wired” and could not change. However brain research, led in particular by Dr. Michael Merzenich, has shown that the brain does change and this ability of the brain to change is termed Neuroplasticity, and is probably one of the most important scientific discoveries in the last several hundred years.

To discover more about the amazing science of Neuroplasticity watch the video below.

Speaker: Daniel Lane, Clinical Director at the Perth Brain Centre, is an experienced chiropractor with over 20 years in private practice and has a special interest in the treatment of brain-based disorders through the activation of neuroplasticity.
